Teacher | Education

Teaching is a profession that enables you to guide and shape
the future of youngsters. Good teachers manage to develop not
only the academic interests of the student but also his
personality and attitude.
Teachers educate students from Primary School to University,
following the guidelines and syllabus prescribed by the
educational authorities of the State. They cover subjects such as
Languages, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Social Sciences,
Geography, and Civics. While expert knowledge about the
subject is necessary to teach, more critical is the ability to
connect with students and the skill to get them interested, stay
alert and participative in the class.
Teachers also need tremendous patience to deal with students
from different backgrounds and widely varied levels of
discipline, motivation and intelligence. Teachers are employed
by Nursery Schools, Middle Schools, High Schools, Colleges,
Universities, Institutes and Special Schools and each of these
levels require different skills and expertise.
Some of the tasks Teachers do include:
· Interact with students, teachers, aides, principals and parents.
· Prepare Lesson Plans for each week
· Set Question Papers for various exams
· Motivate students on life goals and ideas beyond studies

The RTE (Right to Education) Act, 2009 prescribes that all teachers must be qualified with a B.Ed. or D.Ed. and that the Pupil Teacher
Ratio should be 30:1 for Primary Schools and 35:1 for Upper Primary Schools. This implies that there is an urgent need to increase
the number of teachers recruited and certified in India.
India currently faces a shortage of over 12 lakh teachers, according to the Ministry of Human Resource Development. As a result
many schools hire under-qualified contract teaching staff. India is faced with a dire need for quality in education and this can be
fulfilled only with better and more motivated teachers joining the workforce.
Recognizing this need, there have been revisions in teaching salaries both in Government and Private schools and good teachers are
hugely in demand.
